“Young will perform at Carnegie Hall on January 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th. While it’s unclear how the set lists will look, Young built his recent Farm Aid set around cover songs by 1960s and 1970s songwriting greats like Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, Tim Hardin and Phil Ochs. “[Ochs] was one of the greatest poets that ever lived,” Young said from the stage. “Last time he appeared in public was at Carnegie Hall. He wore a gold lamé suit. He was a folk singer. He was a little bit sidetracked by fame and commerciality.”
Neil Young & Crazy Horse at 40th edition Lokerse Feesten
Neil Young & Crazy Horse will perform at the 40th anniversary of the Lokerse Feesten in Lokeren, Belgium on Tuesday 5th August. It will be their last show in the European Tour 2014 and everyone who attended the closing concert of their previous tour in 2001 (‘Ahoy The Killer’ – 24 July 2001) knows how scorchingly intense their performance can be, according to festival organizers.
And on top of that Neil and his comrades will not be playing a short festival set, but a full 2-hour concert.
Presales for this unique concert start immediately. The 10-day passes are also already available. New this year is that you will have the possibility to buy a separate 9-day pass (excluding 5 August). This 9-day pass will be available later when most of the line-up has been published.

Neil Young announced Monday that he will perform four benefit concerts in his native Canada to raise funds for a legal defense fund supporting the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation in “challenges against oil companies and government that are obstructing their traditional lands and rights,” according to a press release, and published in USA Today.
The “Honor the Treaties” shows — a title referring to the last and largest of 19th century land agreements between First Nation and the government of Canada, guaranteeing protection of the ACFN’s lands, rights and ecosystems — will be staged in January. Young will be joined by fellow Canadian artist Diana Krall as special guest.
The concerts will take place Jan. 12 in Toronto, Jan. 16 in Winnipeg, Jan. 17 in Regina and Jan. 19 in Calgary. Tickets go on sale Tuesday.
After the unofficial announcement of Neil Young & Crazy Horse to perform 4 concerts in Germany this summer, now there is news that they will be headliners for next year’s Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park.
Performing July 12, Young will be supported by The National, Caitlin Rose, Phosphorescent, Flyte and Tom Odell, according to The Guardian.
A film of Neil Young singing “Needle of Death” was shown at “A Celebration of Bert Jansch” at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Dec. 3.
Neil has commented that he first started listening to Bert Jansch in Vicky Taylor’s apartment in Yorkville Village in Toronto in the mid-60s. He was captivated with Jansch’s first recording and listened to it over and over. Neil has admitted borrowing heavily from “Needle of Death” for his own “Ambulance Blues” a decade later, according to Young historian and Zuman Sharry Wilson.
Young toured with Jansch in 2011.
Jansch, who was credited with influencing a generation of musicians, died in October 2011 at the age of 67 after a two-year battle with lung cancer.
The Scottish musician Jansch was a founding member of the group Pentangle, with whom he gave his last public performance in August of that year when they reformed, according to an article from the Scotland Herald.
Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant was among music stars who celebrated the work and inspiration of the late folk-rock guitarist Bert Jansch at the tribute concert. Also on the bill were former Suede star Bernard Butler, 60s chart act Donovan – famed for tracks such as Hurdy Gurdy Man – and London Town hit-maker Ralph McTell.
