Sharry reports:
The following article about the screening of Jonathan Demme’s
documentary “Neil Young Life,” plus his and Neil’s personal apperances at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, September 12 was published today in the Toronto Star. I believe this same article by Peter Howell has also been posted online at the TIFF website.

I’m planning to purchase tickets for this on Saturday, September 3. I was disappointed to learn that the TFF box office won’t be selling non-member single tickets until then. Let’s hope they have a few tickets left when I call. The film is being screened at the Princess of Wales Theatre of King St. W. (That’s where Jonathan Demme will also have a dialogue with Neil on stage.)

‘Neil Young Life’ Documentary to Premiere at TIFF
Posted on on Spinner on Aug 23rd 2011 3:29PM by Jenny Charlesworth
Neil Young fans will be clamouring to get tickets to to the TIFF premiere of Jonathan Demme’s latest flick about the ‘Harvest Moon’ crooner. Demme, whose previous films include ‘Neil Young: Heart of Gold’ and ‘Neil Young: Trunk Show’ (not to mention a little flick called ‘The Silence of the Lambs’) outs himself as a full-on fanboy with this third doc.
‘Neil Young Life,’ which debuts Sept. 12 in Toronto and is based on a pair of performances the Canadian folk-rocker did in the city earlier this year at Massey Hall, is the latest music-related film to be announced as part of TIFF’s 2011 programing. As Spinner previously reported, docs on both Pearl Jam (directed by Cameron Crowe) and U2 will also be screened during the film fest. These films will be pretty tough to get into unless you’ve got a hook-up, so you better start scanning your Rolodex now.

Ed Note: Neil is also planning to speak at this event.

Hollywoodnews.com says: We’ve been telling you for years that the Toronto
International Film Festival rocks, but this year it will be louder than ever.
After revealing that the 36th annual TIFF would open with the world premiere of David Guggenheim’s U2 documentary “From the Sky Down” and also screen Cameron Crowe’s Peal Jam doc “Pearl Jam Twenty,” THR reports that TIFF programmers are poised to announce the addition of Jonathan Demme’s latest Neil Young documentary to its musical lineup.
The trade said this concert video will complete Demme’s trilogy, which also includes “Neil Young: Heart of Gold” and “Neil Young Trunk Show.”
As the trade states, Demme’s concert film “was shot last May over two nights at Massey Hall in Toronto, and captured Young’s Le Noise solo tour produced by Daniel Lanois.”
This builds on the classic-rock icons TIFF has brought to the superior film festival over the years. Anyone who attended last year’s Bruce Springsteen interview, conducted by Edward Norton, knows that at TIFF, movies and music often share a harmonious, creative marriage. Now that U2, Pearl Jam and Neil Young are on the docket, there’s no reason to believe TIFF 2011 will be any different.

at the occasion of the 50th anniversary of building the Berlin wall, we found this brilliant cover version of “After Berlin” by Bozzrock:
After Berlin – 50th Anniversary Of The Berlin Wall from Roland Schaller on Vimeo.
Roland says: “Some impressions of the Berlin Wall in 1961 and 1989. These pics should never be forgotten! I hope such political madness will never come back to Europe. The song “After Berlin” is an old Neil-Young-Song, interpreted by Bozz Rockband in 2010 live at the Rock-The-Garden-Festival.

It’s a stunning documentary. Never to forget that we have to stand up and fight against dogmatic willpower, tyranny, dictatorship and the like.
Thankfully, the wall has been torn down since and people could reunite. There should be no more walls forever.
Take me take me take me just the way I am…
AFTER BERLIN
Just like a young boy running down the road
I'm singing out the same old song
Can't go back the way I started from
The road goes on and on
Won't you help me, help me, help me, help me,
Help me, help me, help me, help me,
Make my way on home
Help me make my way on home
After Berlin.
Lights are shining in the German sky
Clouds make walls between the moon and I
Don't know where I started from
So won't you take me, take me, take me, take me,
Take me, take me, take me, take me,
Just the way I am
Ah, take me, just the way I am
After Berlin.
I'll be cruising down the corridor
Seeing things I never seen before
Tomorrow morning in old Berlin
Where they lock you out or lock you in
Won't you save me, save me, save me, save me,
Save me, save me, save me, save me,
From the final day
Save me from the final day
After Berlin.
Just like a young boy running down the road
I'm singing out the same old song
I can't go back the way I used to go
The road goes on and on
Won't you help me, help me, help me, help me,
Help me, help me, help me, help me,
Find my way back home
Won't you help me make my way on home
After Berlin.
Help me, help me, help me, help me.
Help me, help me, help me, help me.
