For those of you who want to hear 100 %, of the audio, the Americana Bluray is the place to get it. Even the new “mastered for I-tunes” tracks available of CrazyHorse’s Americana will have only 5% of the original audio while the CD has just 15%. The Bluray has 100%. On the Bluray you can hear all of the nuances of the CrazyHorse sound exactly as recorded by John Hanlon at Audio Casablanca Studio. If you want the best, now you have a choice. The Americana Bluray also contains 12 videos of the Americana songs, with an alternate version of “Clementine,” plus documentary footage of the Americana choir as it was being recorded at East West Studios in LA.
The only other place to get the quality audio is the vinyl Americana, which originates from the original audio masters. Click here to see the Audio Casablanca studio as it plays back “Horseback,” although you will not be hearing the audio quality on this lo res MP3 stream. ”
This is actually the 37 min version of “Horseback”, linked here recently; it has parts of Cortez et al.
A fullmoon always inspires Neil Young to record new stuff…
Nancy Dunham on May 2 writes:
“…My view is that anyone who can make songs such as “She’ll be Coming ‘Round the Mountain” cool again and introduce classic songs to a new generation is a genius, in my view.
As a sidenote, Young and his band are now recording another album presumably of original material, according to his reps. Watch for it, hopefully later this year.
You can find out more about “Americana” and pre-order the June 5 release from Young’s website.”
“It’s been nine years since the release of a proper Neil Young and Crazy Horse album, and needless to say the announcement of the new disc aptly titled Americana due out on June 5th has been met with a great deal of excitement. That said, a recent interview with Neil divulging details about the new album consisting of “mostly grade school tunes” was a bit confusing, and honestly tempered a bit of the excitement for many of us.
Well, if you haven’t figured this out by now, Neil Young is going to do pretty much whatever he wants to do, and for the most part he is going to do it well. I admittedly was a bit baffled as to how the “grade school” jams were going to work out, but after checking out The Horse’s take on one of the first songs I ever heard “Oh Susannah” I have to say I am quite intrigued. When it comes to standards, it’s all about the performance and the arrangement and Neil and the Horse have done a good job with both.”
Stay tuned to hear the first song soon, and info on how to pre-order Americana! And check out the tracklisting!
