Neil Young & Crazy Horse, The Wailers and Vampire Weekend are among the headliners for this year’s edition of the Ottawa Folk Festival. The 20th edition runs from Wednesday, Sept. 4 to Sunday, Sept. 8 at Hog’s Back Park, with Neil Young & Crazy Horse and Patti Smith headlining opening night.

Sept. 5 brings indie darlings Vampire Weekend to the capital along with local acts Little Stella, Three Little Birds and Shannon Rose and the Thorns. The Friday schedule has a more hip-hop feel, with critically acclaimed rappers Kendrick Lamer and Shad sharing the bill with Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell.
Crowd-pleasers The Sheepdogs, The Avett Brothers, Hayden and Leif Vollebekk hit the stage Sept. 7.
The festival closes Sunday, Sept. 8 with The Wailers, who formed after Bob Marley’s death marked the end of their previous group Bob Marley & The Wailers.
This marks the third version of the Ottawa Folk Festival since Ottawa Bluesfest director Mark Monahan took control in 2011. Early-bird tickets go on sale Wednesday on Capital Tickets, with regular pricing starting Friday at midnight.

\"\'Crazy Mama\' by JJ Cale is a record I love. The song is true, simple, and direct, and the delivery is very natural.\" (The song was the closest thing Cale had to a hit single, peaking at No. 22 on the Billboard chart in 1971.) \"JJ’s guitar playing is a huge influence on me,\" Young continued. \"His touch is unspeakable. I am stunned by it.\"
