Neil Supporting Global Citizen ticket drive
May 2, 2013 By: Robert Rheubottom
Neil Young is among the musical artists helping to fight poverty by supporting a new awareness program called Global Citizen Tickets Initiative.
According to an article posted today at RollingStone.com, the legendary Canuck singer-songwriter will join a huge list of stars, which includes: Bruce Springsteen, Black Sabbath, Pearl Jam, Beyonce, Kanye West, Heart, Rihanna, No Doubt, Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket and many others that have agreed to donate a pair of tickets to each show they perform over the next three years.
Conceived by Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis and Hugh Evans, the chief executive of the Global Poverty Project, the program places the donated tickets into a lottery, where they’re available as motivational tool to users who earn points by raising money for charity or raising poverty awareness by sharing educational Facebook videos.
Fans who accumulate between 10 and 20 points can “spend” them on prize drawings for tickets.
